This is the directory for the historical archives for Taney and Beyond, a community-based resource room designed to promote regional studies in Taney County, Missouri. Currently, we have just begun collecting archives--articles, pictures, supplemental bibliographies, and so forth--to facilitate research on topics of interest. These archives aren't exhaustive: we've included several examples to show some of the things that could be done, and we've provided an initial list of research ideas.
Ideally, once students are able to engage in some of the research projects, these archives will become student created; that is, the students themselves will author the articles, draw the pictures, take the photographs, and draft the diagrams that appear on these pages. And, of course, it goes without saying that the archives are living organisms: history is constantly being made and the past is constantly being re-examined. Thus, these archives will extend far beyond what you see so far.
