Annotated Bibliography of Regional Studies Materials

This section is designed to help area teachers integrate regional studies into their classrooms. The links above will take you to curriculum materials for different content areas and grade levels (6-12).

The Lesson Plans are more formal submissions, though they are not meant to be restrictive, by any means. They include more detailed objectives, procedure, method of evaluation, and Missouri Show-Me Standards addressed. These are arranged by content area.

The Lesson Ideas and Activities are assorted ideas that a teacher might use in developing a lesson plan. They do not include as much information as the plans, but they are useful and varied. These are arranged by content area.

The Unit Plan for Local History is a more extended plan for developing sustained curriculum, either by offering a course on Ozark studies or by integrating a unit into your social studies classroom on regional history.

The Genealogy Activities are suggestions and step-by-step instructions for researching your family history. These activities could be integrated into a history or a language arts classroom with ease. Teachers of other content areas might also see ways to integrate some of the activities.

The Annotated Bibliography of Regional Studies Materials is not an exhaustive list of resources (for something closer to exhaustive, see our Resources and Contributors Page). Rather, it is a brief overview of some of the easily accessible resources that could be used in the classroom.
