*Seeing the Missouri Ozarks Through the Art and Writings of Students

In Christian, Douglas, Stone, and Taney Counties*

Dear Students,

We invite you and your teachers to take part in a student art and writing project designed with you in mind. This Community: Voices of Our Youth is a gathering of area student artists and writers. It celebrates your community as seen through your eyes. Share your insights about the people, places, and events that make your community, your school, and your family unique.

Every community has wonderful stories to tell: stories about past events, stories about the people who have lived there, stories about the way people react to the natural surroundings of that community. Many of these stories have been passed down to you from the adults in your lives. Those are great stories, and once a story has been shared with you, it becomes a part of your story. Sometimes you generate your own stories. We want to hear those stories, also. Share them with others through your writings or artwork.

Each spring, This Community: Voices of Our Youth provides the stage from which you can share your personal narrative, essay, personality profile, short story, poem, song, or visual art. Your sponsoring teacher can acquire more information about This Community: Voices of Our Youth by contacting Project TANEY, Inc., but more than anything, we hope you will accept our invitation to join student writers and artists from throughout our Ozarks region for this exciting, memorable occasion!
